The Connors Range between Hatfield and Yukan has been identified as a critical section due to the operational constraints with trains descending the range. The section previously had a sectional running time of 27 minutes, the longest of any section in the Goonyella System. The reconfiguration of signalling in this area will relieve congestion and enable the higher projected tonnages to be achieved, while maintaining the agreed level of transit-time performance.
This project has reconfigured signalling on the Connors Range to reduce the headway between loaded coal trains. This has reduced the sectional running time to 21 minutes.
