Project Fast Facts

Beerwah level crossing is to be eliminated.    A road connection will be built over the rail line south of the Beerwah CBD.  

  • Start Date: March 2008
  • End Date: Mid 2009
  • Construct a new 1.2km road bridge over the rail line
  • Two roundabouts and two signalised intersections

The Beerwah Rail Crossing Project is improving the local and regional traffic network.  

The project involves constructing:

  • A new road over the rail line connecting Beerwah Parade, Roberts Road, Peachester Road 
    and Steve Irwin Way
  • Traffic signals at the new Steve Irwin Way road connection
  • Upgraded pedestrian and cycle access at Beerwah station to provide a safer crossing
  • A new skate park

Background

This project is part of the work being undertaken to improve rail services along the north coast line and Sunshine Coast region.

Construction of the Caboolture to Beerburrum Track Duplication is underway and is expected to be completed by mid-2009.  Future duplication and upgrading of the rail line from Beerburrum to Landsborough is planned.
