Tracklaying in the corridor - June 08
Beerburrum Creek Bridge
Currently the section of railway between Caboolture and Landsborough is a single winding track. All trains have to slow down in certain sections, restricting the capacity of rail services to and from the north. In December 2001, Queensland Transport commenced a study into the need to upgrade the line, with community consultation on the proposed options being finalised in late 2005.
This project is the first in a series of steps towards improving the public transport needs of existing and future residents from Caboolture to the Sunshine Coast. Stage 2 of this project will include the realignment and duplication of the track for the 17km journey between Beerburrum and Landsborough.
A rail line to the Sunshine Coast is part of the Queensland Government’s long-term plan to meet the future needs of the region, with the population increasing from the current 275,000 to 424,000 by 2026. Future rail lines are also proposed within the next 20 years to Caloundra and Maroochydore.
Construction has been underway since March 2007. Significant completed milestones include: - Local road network upgrades including realigning Rose Creek, Hamilton and part of Dances Roads |
