This project has now been completed and trains are running on the full 16.6 km duplicated rail line between
Helensvale and Robina.  The new track will cater for future passenger demand.

Main elements of the works

The second track has been constructed within the existing rail corridor and no station works were required at Helensvale, Nerang or Robina stations.

The main elements of the works were:

  • Constructing a 16.6km second line on the western side of the existing track starting approximately 100m south of Helensvale Station through to Robina Station.
  • New rail bridges over waterways and roads.
  • Providing signals and overhead power.
  • Constructing a maintenance road beside the track.
