Project Fast Facts

Building a third track between Salisbury and Kuraby to carry express trains to and from the Gold Coast.

  • Start Date: June 2006
  • End Date: Febuary 2008
  • Track length: 9.5km
  • Station upgrades: 7 stations from Coopers Plains to Kuraby
  • Bridges: Stable Swamp Creek at Bulimba Creek, Rebuild Mains Road over-bridge near Sunnybank

  • Extra car parks at all stations except for Altandi (no available space)

Consultation

Consultation occurred in late August 2007 on landscaping in the corridor between Salisbury to Kuraby and for three train stations - Sunnybank, Fruitgrove and Altandi.

The S2K project team planted 5,000 trees, 3,300 shrubs and 36,000 grasses and ground covers.
