A third track has now been built between Salisbury and Kuraby on the Beenleigh rail line to carry express trains to and from the Gold Coast.

Local passengers also benefit - seven metropolitan stations are close to being completed with new, modern facilities and expanded carparks.

Background

In 2003 the government announced track infrastructure upgrades on the Beenleigh/Gold Coast rail line to allow for extra Gold Coast rail services. The track infrastructure will support three additional Gold Coast services in peak periods.

The upgrade consists of the following three projects:

  • Salisbury to Kuraby Third Track
  • Ormeau to Coomera Second Track (complete)
  • Helensvale to Robina Second Track (underway)
