Project Fast Facts

This project building a four lane road and rail transport corridor from Darra to Springfield.

The benefits of the project include: 

  • Residents to receive a new, efficient public transport option
  • Integrated transport hub at Springfield
  • Faster commuting time (both rail and road)
  • Two new stations and proposal for a further two in the future                                             

Community updates

Outcomes of previous consultation activities:

Pedestrian Bridge Consultation:  (Completed Aug 2007) A pedestrian and cyclist bridge is now being built over the Centenary Highway near Woodcrest College, Springfield Lakes.  The Minister for Transport John Mickel announced on 7 November 2007 that the bridge will be coloured aquamarine and rusty red, and named Springfield Link, in line with suggestions from the local community. For further information, refer to the information sheet below.

Richlands Station Consultation:  Consultation on the site of the proposed Richlands Station closed on 4 May 2007.  The Minister for Transport and Main Roads Paul Lucas announced on 4 July 2007 that the government decided the preferred site is the Northern option.

The original planning study was conducted by Sinclair Knight Merz in 2006 and included environmental approvals and community engagement.  It resulted in the final business case being taken to the government in December 2006.

Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor Open Day

Date: Saturday, 29 November 2008

Time: 9am to 12pm

Location: Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor site office (corner of Garden and Progress roads, Richlands). Parking is available on site.

 

Join us for a barbecue, find out more about our project, and pick up a FREE artificial Christmas tree complete with decorations.*

 

In exchange, simply bring a new toy or book (unwrapped) or make a small donation to give to disadvantaged families during the festive season. All donations go to The Smith Family. The Smith Family is a national, independent, non-profit organisation that supports children and families living in financial disadvantage to unlock opportunities to participate more fully in society, using education as the key.
