Overview

The SEQIPRAIL team was established by QR (Queensland Rail) in August 2005 in response to the publication of the Queensland Government's South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and the South East Queensland Regional Plan. 
It was clear from the magnitude of the planned rail infrastructure works that a team of dedicated project managers and support staff would be need to ensure that QR delivers these projects efficiently, on time and within budget.

Construction and the environment

Protecting the environment forms a critical part of QR's construction projects. QR's aim is to minimise environmental impacts, including noise, dust and other construction issues when building projects.

Award-winning team

The SEQIPRAIL team is responsible for delivering all rail infrastructure projects within the SEQIPRAIL program and has been recognised for its efficient and innovative approach.

In 2007, the SEQIP Program Office team won a QR Achiever Award in the "government preferred supplier" category.  The award was recognition of achieving value for the Queensland Government in delivering the $7 billion program of rail infrastructure works.

The program team also won a 2007 Premier's Award for leadership excellence.
The Premier recognised SEQIPRail as leading the field in delivering rail infrastructure by forgoing traditional subcontracting methods and uniquely combining a number of the rail projects into an attractive alliancing opportunity.
The team has now shared its alliancing methodology with other Queensland Government departments as well as interstate infrastructure departments.
